Star Wars hype strikes back. If you’re a fan of Star Wars then there is plenty to be excited about. The highly anticipated Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens is just around the corner, but if that’s too long then the new Star Wars: Battlefront is finally here; although, If that is still not enough Star Wars for you then check out these five great Star Wars video games for a Star Wars fix.

This third-person hack and slash game finally allowed you to go all out with lightsabers and The Force to fight everything the Empire could throw at you. Fun combos, visceral combat, and interesting Force powers allowed for a fun and interesting Star Wars game. Playing as Darth Vader’s apprentice in the same time frame as the original trilogy and allowing you to use The Force to bring down a Star Destroyer was awesome.

4) Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga
Lego Star Wars

Not a fan of the new trilogy of Star Wars films, don’t fret because you can enjoy the better, funnier and frankly more dramatic retelling of episode I, II, and III in Lego format. While you’re at it you can also play through the original trilogy too. Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga took all your favourite characters and turned them into playable Lego figurines. It’s important to note that Lego Star Wars was the first Lego game to adapt a popular franchise into a video game format, and now almost every big franchise has a Lego video game.

3) Star Wars: Bounty Hunter

Another great Star Wars game that doesn’t focus on the Jedi and the Sith is Star Wars: Bounty Hunter where you get to play as a bounty hunter if you haven’t figured that out. Playing as Jango Fett in this third-person shooter allowed you to use all kinds of Jango’s fancy weapons and gadgets like his dual pistols, jetpack, missiles, and a flamethrower. This game provided an interesting look into Jango Fett before the events in the Clone Wars and told you why he was chosen to be the prototype for the clones.

2) Star Wars: Battlefront (I & II)

Who knew that a Star Wars game that isn’t primarily centered around the Jedi and the Sith but instead focused on Stormtroopers, Wookies, Rebels, and Droids could be so amazing. Similar to the older Battlefield games, Battlefront dropped players into various planets, like Hoth and Endor, and allowed them to blast their hearts out and claim victory for their team. Numerous popular weapons, characters, locations, and vehicles from the Star Wars films were brought into the games and felt extremely authentic.

1) Star Wars: Knight of the Republic
KOTOR

This was the best prequel in terms of anything Star Wars related. Bioware’s game took place way in the past and established the roots of the iconic lore about Jedi, Sith, lightsabers and the Force. Kotor allowed you to train as a Jedi Knight and then decide whether to travel on the path of the Light Side or the Dark Side of the Force.  Bringing in all new and original characters and telling a bold and creative new story, Kotor is probably the most intricately detailed and one of the overall best Star Wars games ever made.
